ASSEMBLY TATTERS ALL’S.

THE B3TTING MARKET. [By thb Friar.] The state of public feeling regarding the various events to be negotiated on the 9th of December is gradually simmering, and as a proof I quote the tone of the market regarding one fixture, notably the Selwyn Stakes, for which at present the well-known horse Primus is the only acceptor. Another horse has been mentioned for this stake. I refer to Scotch Bob from the Dunedin stable, but they have wisely refrained from entering him for certain defeat. Several well known metallicians have offered odds on Primus, without finding acceptors. For the Lincoln Hurdles I still prefer Old Georgicas, although The Prieat doesn’t shape badly ; as yet no bets have resulted on this event. For the Wakanui Stake a fourth horso has been brought out, viz., Wild Irishman, by Blarney out of Misfortune, but as the general opinion is that ho won’t stand a show. no inquiries have been made for him. With regard to the North and South Christchurch entries, my previous quotations respecting Time o’ Day and Metalliclan have been well sustained, as also has been the case with the Stanmore acceptors. For SydenhamWhiteboy has hardened somewhat, but I shall be able to report more fully of the state of the public mind after he has taken his preliminary. For St. Albans it is a had look-out so far ns Mawworm goes. He was foolishly tried at the Triennial County Cup Race last week, and ran so badly that Tam o’ Shanter, a regular outsider, beat him hollow, passing the winning post before Mawworm got half round the course. It is entirely the fault of the stable in allowing him to remain so puffy, as, despite my previous warning, he was started very unfit, and, as might be expected, reaped the reward to bo naturally looked for under such circumstances. In its best interests I advise the stable to scratch him forthwith. I append the present state of the market. south Christchurch. Motallician, even (tk) Capias, 10 to 3 (off) NORTH CHRISTCHURCH.
