A firm feeling has prevailed in our sale-room daring the past fortnight, and inferior wools, which were so much neglected at the earlier portion of the sales, have been bringing better -prices, while superior parcels have been well competed for at the rates stated in onr last. The present series will close to-morrow, when about 45.000 bales will have been withdrawn. A batter feeling prevailed at the Havre sales of River Plate wools, which opened on the 27th ult, the better sorts bringing fall prices, while nferior lots sold at a slight advance on rates obtained at the previous auctions. The new arrivals for November amount to 38,145 bales, including 6611 bales of New Zealand. WHEAT AND FLOUR. Although the demand for New Zealand wheat has hardly been so active lately, prices have been fairly maintained, but stocks in granary are heavier than they were, and supplies now at hand are larger. Our market is, therefore, not likely to harden, provided shipments from America continue to be made on the same liberal scale. The visible supply is now 19,750,000qr5., against 14,994.600qr5. this time last year. For arrival 56s is asked for Australian and 54s for New Zealand cargoes. On spot supplies of Australian wheat are getting low, consequently prices have advanced to 59s to 60s per 4901bj. New Zealand is in good supply, and we quote long-berried 57s to 595, average qnalicy 55s 6d to 57s 6d, and inferior 52s to 53s per 4961 b. Flour has been in active demand at 40s to 43a for superfine Australian, and 36s to 38s for second ; New Zealand flour, 37s to 39a per 2801 b. Barley has been in very fair request, and New Zealand has realised 40s to 48s per 4431 b. Supplies of oats have been more limited, and N.Z. was bringing good prices. Wa quote 29a to 34s for fine, and 25s to 28s per imperial qr. for ordinary qualities. Australian peas are now worth 38s to 40s, New Zealand 42s to 41s ; and beans 44s to 48s per 5041 b. TALLOW AND HIDES. The demand for Australian tallow has continned good, and prices advanced until good to fine mutton brought 43a to 44s 3d, and beef 4ls to 42s 3d per cwt; but at the auctions on Friday last there was very little enquiry, even at a decline of Is to 2s per cwt. We now quote ths former at 41a to 435, and the latter 39s to 40a 6d per cwt. Inferior qualities are in good demand, and realise very high comparative prices. The import during last month was 8061 casks, making the atook in importers’ hands about Bilo casks. Hides at the last sales brought previous rates, viz , heavy ox, s£d to 5.Vd ; light, s;id ; cows, SJ-d, and secondclass, 4fd to 5d per lb. Bank rate raised to-day from 4 per cent, to 5 per cent.
