BRISBANE, November 8. Polynesian Atrocities.
News has been received here reporting that attacks have recently been made by the Natives in strong force upon the fishing stations at Flinder’a Island and Knight Island near the coast, to the north of Cape Melville. At the former place tho Natives were completely repulsed, but the station at Knight Island was partially destroyed, and firearms and rations were carried off.
It is feared that Mrs Watson, wife of one of the owners of the Beche-de-mer Fishing Station on Lizard Islands has been murdered by the Natives who, it isbelieved attacked and plundered the station on the 26th ult., and carried off Mrs Watson and her children during the absence of her husband and his partner. The search parties which were despatched from Cooktown to examine the neighbor* ing islands have not as yet found any traces of them.
