LONDON, November 3. The Markets.

Consols have advanced to 99|-. The Bank rate of discount remains at 5, and the market rate at 4 per cent. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £10,200,000. New Zealand securities:—Five Per Cent. 10-40 Loan, 103 i; Five Per Cent. 1889 loan, 102, ex div.; Four and a-half Per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, 99a. Adelaide and New Zealand breadstulls and Australian tallow are without quotable change in price. Best Scotch pig iron. No. 1, free on board, has declined 1s per ton, and is to-day quoted at 51s. Correction. The dividend declared by the London Chartered Bank of Australia is at the rate of 5 per cent, for the year, and not for the half year, as stated in a telegram dated Ist inst. November 4th. The Land. League. The Irish Land League is advising tenants to apply to the Land Commission for a decision of the disputed questions, with the object of creating a dead-lock, and thus hampering the work of the Commissioners. Many of the fresh eases which have lately been submitteed have, it is believed, been only referred to the Commission with a view of obstructing its labors. The Riots at Belmullet. Further details which have been received of the rioting which took place yesterday at Belmullet, in Ireland, show that the first accounts were greatly overdrawn. The conflict between the police and the rioters was of a severe character, but only a few of the latter wore injured by the firing of the police. SAN FRANCISCO, November 2. The MailsThe Pacific mail steamship City of New York arrived here to-day from Auckland, with the homeward English mails, one day in advance of contract time.
