It 10 necessary sometimes to go from home for news relative to arrivals and departures at British ports, but they appear on the other side of the ocean to gain a very incorrect notion of iho true state of affairs at this end of the hemisphere. As an instanco of the ludicrous extreme to which some newspapers commit themselves, it is only necessary to publish the follswing paragraph, which appeared in the shipping columns of a daily journal published at Plymouth:—"On the departure of the De tached Squadron from Sydney it wa3 left optional with Lord Clanvsilliam whether he would visit the Fiji group; but later intelligence of outrages upon English traders by the natives having been received, a display of force is advisable, and the squadron will leave Brisbane for Fiji to-day." SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. DnssßiN, November 3. Arrived—Brig Marie, from Boston; Vivid, from Mauritius.
