[tbs PBKBS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, October 31. Beating a Woman. W. Dawson, a solicitor’s clerk, was this morning sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for beating a woman. WithdrawnThe Wade prosecutions have been withdrawn. Burglary. A burglar broke into Merrick’s store, Albert street, last night, and stole a till containing £2 worth of small change. WELLINTON, October 31. Fire. The Qroytown Club and the Working Men’s Club at Greytown, were destroyed by flee on Saturday night. The fire orginated in the Greytown Olnb, and was carried to the other club. The following are the insurances: —Greytown Club, £7lO in the New Zealand ; and Working Men’s Club, £SOO in the South British. INVBEOARQILL. October 31. ElectoralDr. Hodgkinscu, a former member, addressed a meeting of the Wallace electors at Riverton on Saturday, receiving a vote of confidence. While not supporting Sir G. Grey, he believed it was possible to get a better Government than the present, which had done barm as well as good. Two Bodies Found. On Saturday, the bodies of a woman and child were found in a ditoh near One tree Point, a few miles from Invercargill, in an advanced stage of decomposition, and have been identified as those of a young married woman named Morrison and her child. The woman was subject to fits, and had apparently been seized with one where found. The woman has been missing since June last.
