Mails close at the Chief Post OISco for the following places (subject to the necessary altera, tionsl as under : SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29. For Northern Ports and Chatham Islands, per Wauaka (to connect with the schooner Island Lilly at Auckland for Chatham Islands), at 7.30 p,m. The guard’s van must not be used for this mail. MONDAY, OCTOBER 31. For Otago, per St. Hilda, at 8.30 a.m. ; late fee letters, 8.40 a.m. ; guard’s van, 9.5 a.m. train TUESDAY, NOVEMBER !. _ For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Eingarooma, at 11.30 a.m. ; late fee letters, 11.40 a.m.; guard’s van, 12 10 p.m, train. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2 For United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only). Point de Galle, India, China, Japan, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Suez, the Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, per express train, to connect with Eingarooroa at Port Chalmers, at 7 a.m. Regis* tered correspondence at 5 pm. on Tuesday, Ist November. Late fee letters may be posted In the travelling Post office attached to the express train on Wednesday, November 2nd. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on Saturday, November sth, and will be duo in London on December 20th. Notice. —On and after Nov. 1, 1881, money orders will be issued in New Zealand payable at any town in Germany, and after Ist January next Money Orders will be issued in New Zealand payable in the United States of America.
