The first general meeting of the South Canterbury Teachers’ Association was held to-day, to adopt rules and elect officers. The objects of the association are stated to be the promotion of educational interests, and for the general benefit of schoolmasters. An address of interest to teachers generally is promised for next month’s meeting. ElectoralMr J. T. Partridge, a working jeweller, stands for Timaru on the working man’s ticket. DUNEDIN, October 29. ElectoralMr Hodgkinson received a vote of confidence from the Lindon portion of the Boslyn electorate. Ho strongly supports the Ministerial action re Native affairs, and agrees with Bible reading in schools, but opposes separation and railway construction by private companies.
