| PEB PBBBB ASSOCIATION.] NEW PLYMOUTH. October 28. Accidents. Yesterday afternoon a man named Carnell was run over by a trolly at the harbor works. The trolly passed over the man’s right leg. This morning- a young man working on the Goliath slipped and fell to tho ground n dibtance of about twenty feet. He dislocated hia elbow and fractured his wriet, besides being seriously shaken. The Big Sweep* There is groat dissatisfaction at Brown’s AIIO,OOO sweep on the Melbourne Cup not being drawn yet. On Tuesday the now Act comes into forco, whan it will be illegal to draw the sweep. [FROM OTJB CORRESPONDENT.] ASHBUETON, October 23. Agricultural ShowThe fourth annual exhibition took place today. Tho weather was splendid and there was a capital attendance. The entries numbered 43 i, being 10 psr-cent. moro than last year. Tho sheep, cattle, and horses were well but there was a slight deficiency in pigs. Tho merino sheep were especially good. Mr John McLean, who was awarded first prize for tho best merino ram above eighteen months, and Mr J. Pearson, wore so far the most successful competitors in merinos. ElectoralOn Thursday evening Mr J. C. Waaon, one of tho candidates for tho Wakanui constituency, addressed over one hundred electors in tho Temperance Hall, Tinwald. Mr Joseph Clark occupied the chair. A vote of thanks was unanimously accorded the candidate.
