Total, 1810 persons, including 77 Chinese, who arrived from Dunedin. Departures—Russell, 7 ; .'Auckland, 403 ; Wellington, 295 ; Napier, 68 ; Nelson, 10 ; Greymouth, 143 (including 25 Chinese); Hokitika, 51 (including 7 Chinese); Lyttelton, 130; Timaru, 22 ; Oamaru, nil : Dunedin, 555 (including 70 Chinese); Inveroargill, 121. Total, 1805 (including 102 Chinese) The following is the result for the nine months ended September 30th : Arrivals—Russell, 11 ; Kaipara, nil; Auckland, 2464; Wellington, 514; Wanganui, nil; Napier, 116 ; Nelson 10 j Greymouth; 733 ; Hokitika. 265 ; Lyttelton, 619 ; Timaru 9 ; Oamaru, nil; Dunedin, 1844; Inveroargill, 475. Total, 7060. Departures—Russell, 31 ; Kaipara, 14 ; Auckland, 1473; Wellington, 1031; Wanganui, 2; Napier, 270; Nelson, 49 ; Greymouth, 53 ; Hokitika, 130 ; Lyttelton, 440 ; Timaru, 69 ; Oamaru, 8; Dunedin, 2181; Invercargill, 536. Total, 6582. The arrivals thus exceeded the departures by 478. The Chinese arrivals were 1020, viz., Auckland, 1; Wellington, 5; Greymouth, 648 ; Hokitika, 203 ; Dunedin, 172, as against 257.
