CRICKET.
ASSOCIATION MATCH. Owing to several players chosen in the matoh England v Colonies not turning up on Saturday, a scratch matoh was arranged by Hartland and Fuller from all comers. The play shown was fair, considering the early stages of the season. Speoial mention may be made in favor of E. Cotterill (batting and bowling), Hartland, Chapman and Wood (batting), and Eowke at the wickets. The wicket played very well, especially the southern end. The following are the scores : K. T. A splendid wioket was secured, and the highest anticipations as to the manner in whioh the ground would play were fully realised. Without getting up, the balls loft the pitoh like lightning, and there is no doubt that if a man can keep his wicket up on the new establishment he can so anywhere. A band was in attendance and lawn tennis nets were pitched at the far end of the ground for the ladies. The whole proceedings, indeed, were highly successful. Messrs Stovens and Ollivier picked up sides. Subjoined is the score :
