ENGLISH. The following is Messrs Miles Bros, and Co.’s colonial produce report, dated Loudon, September Bth: WOOL. Our saleroom is still well attended, and good merino wools are. if anything, slightly firmer, while superior fleeces, washed parcels, are bringing more money. Woclc of medium quality show no alteration, and faulty descriptions are to be obtained on easier terms. The finer sorts of crossbreds, from Is to Is 2Jd per lb, are well competed for, bat the coarser kinds are still weak. Good greasy lambs sell at aboat same rates, bnt aoonreds are much neglected. Capes are in large supply. Beat scoured whites may be quoted at last sale’s prices, but other descriptions rule Did to Id per lb lower. Up to the present time about 10,000 bales have been withdrawn. The arrivals for November to date are as follows; — Bales. New South Wales and Queensland ... ... 2,033 Victoria 4,282 South Australian 530 Tasmanian ... ... ... 410 New Zealand 2.0R3 Cape ... 8,519 Total 16.972 WHEAT AND FLOUR. Our wheat market is rather easier than it was a fortnight ago, the high prices now ruling having cansed liberal offers of grain to be made from the United States, bat the urgent requirements of millers bare have kept prices pretty firm, the decline being only Is to la 6d per qr. In arrived parcels at porta of call Australian wheat has been selling at 55s to 55s 6d. while on passage near at hand cargoes are offered at sls 61, cf. and i. terms. New Zealand wheat cargoes on passage, July shipments, have been sold at 52s 3d and 52s 6d per 4Solba. Flour is slightly dear, but trade is dull. New Zealand barley commands more attention, and N.Z. oats are rather firmer. Wo quote Australian wheat of average quality at) 56s to 57s ; New Zealand long berried, 56s to 58s ; average quality, 55a to 565; and inferior, 52s to 54s per 4961b5. Australian flour, superfine, 39s 6d to 41s 6d; households, 37s to 39s ; New Zealand, 36s to 38s per 2301b5. Fine malting N.Z. barley, 40s to 45j per 4481b5. New Zealand beans, 46s to 50s per 5041b5. Fine New Zealand oats, 32s 6d to 33a ; common feed, 25a to 28s per imperial qr ; Australian peas, 38s to 40s per 5041bs ; and New Zealand oatmeal, 200 a to 220 s per ton. TALLOW AND HIDES. The demand for Australian tallow has been very good, and prices have advanced considerably, the value to-day of good to fine mutton being 37a to 38s Gd, and fair to fine beef 36s to 37a 6d per owt. Superior qualities are also in good request, and realise high comparative prices. The stocks in importers’ hands now amount to about 9000 casks. Hides were not in active request at the last auction, bnt for the portion sold previous prices were obtained. We quote Heavy ox, Bja to Oja, HgUt Ota ; cows, sid, and second-class 4-J.l to 4Jd per lb. Bank rate, 4 per cent.
