[per press association.] AUCKLAND, October 21. Californian GrapesA shipment of American grapes by the City of Sydney from San Francisco found a ready market in Auckland. To the Front. Captain Gilbert Mair was a passenger by tbe MacGregor for Wail are, en route for Parihaka, to take command of a corps for busk operations. Numbers are offering their services for the Constabulary, but none are being engaged. FireMr Stevenson’s store at Notown was destroyed by fire at midnight yesterday. The flames wore kept from spreading to the adjoining buildings, despite an insufficient water snpply. The loss is estimated at £2400. The insurances are—btoek £IOOO, and building £4CO, in the National. WELLINGTON, October 21. The New Minister. Mr Oliver left for Lyttelton to-day. For the Seat of War. The Hinemoa left for Opunake this evening with sixty Armsd Constabulary. The secretary to the Native Minister was also passenger. He visits Parihaka for the purpose of distributing the proclamation which was recently issued. Mr Bryce Gazetted. The appointment of Mr Bryce as Native and Defence Minister was gazetted this evening. The Eailway Tariff. A new tariff of railway charges will shortly be issued. It is understood that tbe charge for tbe conveyance of stock and some other articles will be reduced. Facilities for Money Exchange. “ From and after the Ist November, money orders will be issued on German States, and on January Ist a system for the exchange of money orders between the United States and this colony will be established.
Volunteer Review. The Volunteers have decided to hold a grand review on the 9th of November. [FEOM THE OWN OOEEBSPONDENT OF THE “ PEESS ' ] WELLING lON, October 21. Eumours are still held current of differences between the Governor and Ministers, but nothing definite has transpired on the subject. It is known that another special meeting of the Executive Council took place at Government House to-day, and lasted a long time, bnt nothing is known as to the result. Ministers were in Cabinet a long time this evening, and it is understood that a lengthy memorandum has been exchanged, but absolutely nothing is authoritatively known, so all statements which purport to give definite information are purely imaginary. All sorts of reports are firing about, bnt most of them are too obviously wild in their inaccuracy to need notice.
