The Customs duties collected at Christchurch on Tuesday, October 18th, were as follows : Spirits, £l5B 8s ; tobacco, .£260 16s ; wiuo, J 834 9s ; beer, .£l3 4s; sugar, £57 4s lid; tea, .£27 Oa 4d ; goods by weight, £B3 14s ; ad valorem, £3llos. Total, £666 6s 3d. COMMERCIAL TELEGRAMS. Wellington, October 19. Messrs Laery and Campbell report prices are hardening for good sonnd potatoes. Oats are in fair demand. Dunedin, October 19. Wheat —No change from last week ; beat milling, 4s 4d to 4s 6d ; ordinary, 4s to 4s 3d ; inferior and fowls’ feed, 2a 3d to 3sl6d. Oats—the supply has fallen off, but without having any appreciable effect upon prices, which may bo quoted—prime milling, 2s to 2s Id ; good bright feed, la lOd to Is lid ; inferior, la 9d to Is lOd. Barley—Nothing whatever is doing, and malsters are now closing their operations for the sum* mer.
