It has now transpired that Thorpe, late teller of the Bank of Victoria, who was arrested yesterday charged with embezzling £2500, was recently suspended, and has since that time returned the whole amount (£2500) in hatches to his successor. He asserts that, although he had used the money, he did not intend stealing it. Mr Thorpe, late teller of the Bank of Victoria, was brought up at the Police Court to-day charged with embezzlement.
