Mail: close at the Chief Pout Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : TUKSDAT, OCTOBER 18. For Northern Porta, per Wonaka, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19. For th. United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, &c., via Brindisi (specially addressed correspondence only). India, China, Japan, the East, Australian Colonies, Otago, &0., per Te Anau, at 11 30 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.40 a m.; guard’s von, 12.10 p.m. train.
The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Son Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on Saturday, November stb, and will be due in London on December 20th. Notice.—On and after Nov 1, 1881, money orders will be issued in New Zealand payable at any town in Germany, SYDNEY J. DICK. Chief Postmaster.
