The race for the Caulfield Gold Cup was run to-day, and was won by Master Avenel, with Pirate second. Only two started. October 16. Shipping. Arrived this morning, the P. and O Company’s steamship Ravenna, with the inward mailsvia Suez and Brindisi, dated London, September 9th. ADELAIDE, October 15. Arrived this afternoon, the Orient Company’s steamship John Elder.
