Mails close at tho Chief Post OfScu tor the following places (subject to the neoessary alterations) as under : WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5.
For United Kingdom and Continent of Europe (specially addressed correspondence only), and Australia, per E »press (to conneot with Orient steamer), at 7 a.m. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling post office van attached to*the express train. For Northern Porta, per Waitabi, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, at 2 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8 For United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, Cape ot Good Hope, Natal, &c (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, and Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Wanaka, as follows :—Ordinary letters at 6.30 p.m. ; late fee letters, at 7 p.m. ; books and newspapers, at 630 p.m.; money orders at 3 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m.; guard's van, 8.30 p.m. train.
