TOHU RUN TO EARTH.
The cornoring of Tohu from 7.30 p.m. to 1.30 a.m. by " the Special," will form an era in tho annals of onr contemporary of Gloucester street. To corner any man for six solid hours is no light feat, but to keep a prophet going for the fourth of twenty-four hours is something to be proud of indeed. The most intensly interesting part of the proceedings must have been when the visitor was explaining the functions »t a newspaper. We all by this time know pretty well what are the special's views with regard to those functions. An exposition of the same evidently struck Tohu in a soft spot. The latitude allowed and approvod of by the "Lyttelton Times" delighted him, and possibly had something to do with his subsequent arrangement of the world's great rulers, which he said were Moses, then four others, then Christ, the Queen, Tawhiao, Te Whiti, and himself. The ease with which the prophet picked up the spirit of the thing from his visitor, shows him to be a man of no common talent and adaptability. When the special drew attention to the size of the organ of his employer, and declared it to be as large as the mat on which Tohu was sitting, no doubt the latter started away at score immensely refreshed by the picture. Luckily, as we are informed, Tohu has a powerful physique, and he may be depended upon for a considerable number of koreros in the immediate future. At present he has no knowledge of the world outside his pah,|but a few more interviews with his late guest will put that all straight. He may soon be expected to know a good deal more than most people, and if his physique only holds out, his education, so happily commenced, may be brought to a successful conclusion.
