MAIL NOTICES.
Maila close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (anbjoot to the necessary alterations) as under : SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 7.30 p.m. The guard's van must not be used for this mail. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 4. For Otago and Australian Coloniea, per Arawata, 1.45 p.m ; late fee letters, at 2 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. For Northern Ports, per Waitaki, 1.45 p.m. ; lata fee letters, at 2 p.m.; guard's Tan, 2.40 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5. For Australian Colonies and United Kingdom and Continent of Europe (specially addressed correspondence only), per express train, at 7 a.m. Late fee letters may be posted in tho travelling post office van attached to the express train. The next mail for tho United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchnreh on Saturday, Octobor Bth, and will be duo in London on November 22nd. Note —On and after Monday. September 26th, a post-office will be opened at Flomington, near Ashburton. Mails will close at Christchurch each Monday, Wednosday, and Friday at 7.30 a.m., and arrive at Chrintchurch each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, at 2.15 p m. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster
