MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Oflice for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) an under :

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28. For Otago, per Beautiful Star, at 3 20 p m ; late fee letters, 3.30 p.m.; guard's vaD, 4 p.m. train.

THUESDAT, SEPTEMBER 29. For Akaroa. per Wanaka, at 9.40 a.m.; late fee letters, 9.50 a.m.; guard's van, 10.20 a.m. "train.

For Otngo, per AEbion, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern Forte, per Botorua, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.40 pi hi. train. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30.

For Bruce Bay, Haast River, and Jackson's Bay, per West Coast mail, to connect at Hokitika with s.s. Waipari, at 7.30 a.m. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1. '-For United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, India, China, &c., via Brindisi (for specially ad•droaaod correspondence only), Australian Oolo■nisa, per express train, to connect with s.s. Botomahana at Port Chalmers, as follows : Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m.; books and nowsipapera, 6 a.m.; registered letters, on Friday, September 30th, at 5 p.m. Late fee letters may '■"be posted in the travelling Post office attached 'to the express train on Saturday, October let. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via i •Son Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on "Saturday, October Bth, and will be due in London on'Novexnber 22nd. Note—On and after Monday. September 26th, a post-oifice will be opened at Flemington, near Aahburton.
