MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24. For Northern Ports, per Wanaka, at 7.30 pm. The guard’s van must not be used for this mail. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26. For Northern Ports, per Go-ahead, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27. For Northern Ports, per Hawea, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30. For Bruce Bay, Haast River, and Jackson’s Bay, pec West Coast mail, to connect at Hokitika with s.s. Waipara, at 7.30 a.m. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1. For United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, India, China, &0., via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), Australian Colonies, per express train, to connect with s.s. Rotomahana at Port Chalmers, as follows : Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m.; hooks and newspapers, 6 a.m.; registered letters, on Friday, September 30th, at 5 p.m. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post office attached to the express train on Saturday, October Ist. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on Saturday, October Bth, and will be due in London on November 22nd. Note—On and after Monday, September 25th, a post-office will ho opened at Flomington, near Ashburton. Mails will close at Christchurch each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7.30 a.m., and arrive at Christchurch each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, at 2.15 p m. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
