AUSTRALIA.
MELBOURNE, September 20. Oats Short oats are quoted at 3s sd. Parliamentary. The Victorian Parliament re-assembled to-day. Case of Smallpox. A case of what is supposed to be small pox is reported from Yacandandah in the north-east of this colony. The symptoms so far are mild, but tho patient has been isolated.
The Late Railway Accident. An inquiry into the Jolimont railway accident has resulted in finding that tho same was due to the dangerous condition of the tire of a wheel. The court further found that the management of the Hobson's Bay Railway was very lax, but could not fix upon any individual? as ponsibility.
Sporting. Tho Duchess filly is now first favorite for the Melbourne Cup at 10 to 1.
