MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : TUJBDAT, SEPTEMBER 20. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Kaikoura, per Jane Douglas, at 3.20 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.30 p.m.; guard’s van, 4 p.m train. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Son Francisco, will ba closed at Christchurch on Saturday, October Bth, and will bo due in London on November 23nd. Note —On and after Monday September 26th, a post-office will be opened at Flomington, near Ashburton. Mails will close at Christchurch each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7.30 a.m., and arrive at Christchurch each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, at 2.15 p m. SYDNEY DICK, Chief Postmaster.
