CORN EXCHANGE
The following is tho report for the week ending Friday, September 16th : —There is no alteration to note in the state of the market, and values are unchanged. Wheat —Good sound milling wheat is worth from 4a 6d to 4s 9d per bushel, f.0.b,; second quality, 4a to 4s 3d per bushel, f.0.b.; chick wheat, 2s 9d to 3a 3d per bushel. Oats—Good stout milling, 2a 31 to 2a 41 per bushel, f.0.b.; feed samples, Is lOd to 2s per bushel, delivered in Christchurch. The market is flat. Barley—Good malting samples are being inquired for, and are saleable from 2s 9d to 3s 3d per bushel f.o.b ; second rate malting 2s 3d to 2s 6d per bushel; feed, la 9d to 2a per bushel, delivered in Christchurch. Potatoes —Business in the tuber is completely at a standstill ; prices nominal. Grass S-'eed—A few parcels are still on offer, with buyers hardly so eager. Well-cleaned parcels range from 5s Gd to Gs per bushel, indifferently cleaned according to sample. Cheese and Butter—The former is dull of sale at 3d to 3Jd per lb. Tbo latter, on account of the new being in the market, makes the keg butter almost unsaleable.
