[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM, 1 WELLINGTON, September 15. Tho following are the vital statistics for August:
boroughs occurring at hospitals have been excluded in ail cases. The total births in tho above boroughs amounted to 502 against 433 in July, being an increase of 69. The deaths amounted to 148 in August, a doorcase of 16 on the number for July, Of tho above deaths, mules contributed 83, females 65 ; 58 of the deaths were children under five years of age, being 3919 per cent, of tho whole number; 42 of these were children under one year of age.
