Mails cloeo at the Chief Post Office for the Following places (subjoct to the necessary alterations) as under i FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16. For Westport, per Star of the South, at 11.30a.m. ; late fee letters, 11.40 a.m. ; guard's van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Wakatipn, at 320 p.m.; lata fee letters, 3.30 p.m.; guard's van 4 p.m. train. M; iNDAT, SEPTEMBER 19.
For United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, Point de Galle, India, China, Japan, the iast, Aden, Mauritius, Suez, the Mediterranean Ports, &c, via Brindici (for specially addreseed correspondence only), Australian Colonies, and Otago, per Te Anau.
The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchnrch on Saturday, October Bth, and will be due in London on November 22nd. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
