Affairs in EgyptIt has transpired that the meeting of the Council of Notables, which had been summoned by the Khedive, to suggest the course of action to bo pursued at the present crisis of Egyptian affairs, -was held to-day. The demands of the military were discussed at length, and the action of the officers met with general disapproval. It was ultimately resolved that Cherif Pasha should be requested to reconsider his decision of yesterday, and to accept the presidency of the Council. He was at length prevailed upon to accede to the w'shes of the Nobles, and is now engaged in the formation of a Cabinet. PARIS, September 13. The Tunisian War. Telegrams are to hand from Tunis, reporting that the Arab insurgents made an attack to-day upon the French position at Taghouan, about fifty miles to the south of this city, in great force, completely surrounding the camp. Desperate fighting ensued, and continued for several hours, with heavy loss on both sides. It is further stated that the- Arabs have broken down the aquedHctwhich supplies the city of Tunis with water. Gireat alarm continues to be felt throughout the principality at the attitnde of the native tribes.
