The engine-room and main hold filled with water, and he was oompelled to beach her again. Her bottom is severely damaged, but efforts wore being made to stop the leak, so as to get ber in smooth water. Floating appliances will now have to bo uted. She is insured in the National office for £3OOO, reinsured to the extent of £2500 as follows : Colonial, £SOO ; New Zealand, £SOO ;■ Victoria, £500; South British, £SOO ; Union, £250 ; Batavia, £250.
