Mr Buchanan, who was unsuccessful last election, seems likely to have a walk-over for the town. The Natives at Parihaka are reported to be in a deplorable condition, consequent on the idle habitß they have been indulging in. It is said also that tho settlement at Parihaka is in a horribly filthy state. DUNEDIN, September 12. The Weather. A heavy squall this afternoon ushered in a sudden ohsinge of the weather. It is now blowing strong from the south-west with heavy rain. The telegraph wires are down north. INVEROARGILL, September 12. Heavy Bquulls from the south-west have prevailed all day, accompanied by thunder vivid lightning.
