The Customs duties collected at Christchurch on Thursday, September Bth, were as follows.—Spirits, £56 0s 6d; tobacco, £3l 17s 6d ; cigars. £3 l Is lid ; wine, £lO Is; sugar, £2l 6s 3d; goods by weight, £2116s lOd; ad valorem, £4Ol 17s. Total, £566 11s. At the usual sitting of the Waste Lands Board held at Christchurch on Thursday, September Bth, soles were mode as follows : —Ordinary—Ashley, 119 alrsp ; Selwyn, 305 alrßp ; Akaroa, la.; Ashburton, 118 alr 39p; Geraldine, 15a lr 18p; total acreage sold, 559 a lr 30p; total cash received, £lllß 17s 6d; refunds on account of former purchases were made in the amount of £355 16s 6d, COMMERCIAL TELEGRAMS. Auckland, September 9. The most remarkable feature of the week has been the enormous arrival of Canterbury potatoes. Since last week 900 tons have arrived, ana advices of 300 or 400 tons more to arrive have been received. The greater portion has been submitted to the hammer, realising from £1 2s (id to £2, the average being a little more than £lloa. Flour—Adelaide, £ls ICs to £l6; Canterbury, £l2 to £l2 10s; Oamam, do do. Oats, milling, 2s 6d to 2s 8d; feed, large supply, 2s 4d to2ssd; potatoes, large sales at auction, 80s to 40s. Barley, toed, 2a 4sd to 2s 6d. Wellington, September 9. Messrs Ladbetter and Cooper report a general advance in share prices, and the market remaining very firm.
