MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary altera* lions) as under : FRIDAY. SEPTEMBER 9. For Otago, per Wakatipu, at 1.45 p.m. ; lata fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s von, 2.40 p.m. train. SATUEDAT, SEPTEMBER 10. For United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, Cape ot Good Hope, Natal, (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, Northern Porta of Now Zealand, &c., per Penguin, as follows:—Ordinary letters at 6.30 p.m.; late fee letters, at 7 p.m. ; books and newspapers, at 6.30 p.m.; money orders at 4 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m.; _ guard’s van, 8.30 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London on October 25th. Notice. —On and after Ist September the mail service between Christchurch and Papanni will be twice daily, carried by tram cars. Hails will close at Christchurch at 8 a.tn. and 3.30 p.m., and close at Papanui at 11.45 a.m. and 7 P-m ' STD NET J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
