New Zealand securities —Five Per Cent. 10-40 Loan, 101 J, ex div. ; Five Per Cent. 1889 Loan, 102 i ; Four and a-Half Per Cent. 1879-1904 Leas, 99i. Adelaide wheat, per 4961b5., ex warehouse, 565; New Zealand wheat, per 4961b5, ex warehouse, average qualities, 55s 6d ; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 41a 6d. Australian tallow—Best beef has advanced to 37s 6d; best mutton remains at 395. The Wool SalesAt the wool sales to-day, 11,800 bales were catalogued. The tone of the auction showed that prices have a hardening tendency. The Frozen Meat ShipmentsThe carcases of beef brought per steamship Protos are found to be in good condition, but have not as yet been sold. The Orient steamship Cuzco arrived at Plymouth. Her cargo of frozen meat, consisting of 5000 sheep, &c., is pronounced in excellent order. Dividend. The Bank of Australasia has declared a dividend at tho rate of 6 per cent, for the past half year. The Irish Troubles. Numerous collisions have occurred at several places in Ireland during tho past few days between the police and the people, and much disorder prevails in many parts of the country.

NEW YORK, September 6, The Reported Massacre of American Troops. Further intelligence from Now Mexico 1 shows that . General Carr and hia detachment of Am erican troops were not, as previously stt 'tod, massacred by the Indians but were made prisoners and confined in a fort. . From this the General and the bulk of hia officers subsequently effected their escape \ but in their flight eleven of the party '„were killed by the Indians.
