Stephen Fell, of Clive, and a companion, were on the Okawa ranges yesterday in search of horses when they came across some linen and what appeared to be a portion of newlyturned earth, and on scraping it away they discovered the lower extremities of a human body. From the appearance of the feet they are of opinion that the body is that of an European woman. Without disturbing the remains further they returned to Clive and at once communicated with the police. On the news reaching town a constable was at once dispatched to the scene of the discovery to make an examination and inquiries, but he has not returned. It is stated that an European woman left Beamish’s station, Okawa, for Sydney, some weeks ago, and has not since been heard of. On the other hand, about the same spot a Maori skeleton was found a short time ago and buried, and it may have got partly uncovered.
