Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary altera lions) as under:— TUESDAY, SEPTEMBEE 6. For Northern Ports, per Wanaka, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, to connect with Orient steamer in Melbourne (for specially addressed correspondence only), Australian Colonies and Otago, per express train, at 7 a.m. ; books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. ; registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6th ; late fee letters may bo posted in the travelling Post Office van attached to the express train on Wednesday, September 7th. THUESDAT, SEPI’EMBEE 8. For Northern Forts of New Zealand and Chatham Islands (per Omaha from Auckland), per Te Anau, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. Notice. —On and after Ist September the mail service between Christchurch and Papanui will be twice daily, carried by tram cars. Mails will close at Christchurch at 8 a.m. and 3.30 p.m., and close at Papanui at 11.45 a.m. and 7 p.m. Notice.—The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will close en Saturday, September 10th, and will be due in Loudon on October 25th.
