MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alters tions) as under : SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3. For Northern Ports, per Hawea, at 7.30 p.m. The guard's van must not be used for this mail. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 5. For Kuikonra, per Jane Douglas, at 3.20 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.30 p m.; guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6. For- Otago and Australian Colonies, per Rotorua, at 11.30 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.40 a.m. ; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Wanaka, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. Notice. —On and after Ist September the mail service between Christchurch and Papnnui will be twice daily, carried by tram cars. Mails will close at Christchurch at 8 a.m. and 3.30 p.m., and close at Paponni at 11.45 a.m. and 7 p.m. Notice.—The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will close en Saturday, September 10th, and will be duo in London on October 25tb, SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
