Parker, J.P.’s.] DeunkenneSß. —An old man, apparently imbecile and very infirm, was brought up charged with being found drunk at the Railway Station on the previous day. The police stated that he had been arrested more for hia own safety than anything else. It was also stated that he had just arrived from London by the Lutterworth. He had formerly resided in a hut at ALaiapoi, but had gone to England about eighteen months ago in the Crusader. —ln answer to questions by the Bench, he said he had no friends here or anywhere else, and he intended to go back to London at once. There being no previous convictions recorded against him, he was cautioned and dismissed, the Bench remarking that he did not seem to be a very desirable addition to the population.—For first offences, two other men were fined each 5s and Is cab-hire.—John Wilson was cautioned and [discharged.—John Kelly, who had not got sober since his arrest, was sent to gaol for seven days. Larceny as a Bailee. —William Henry Illingworth, arrested by order of the Magistrate at the termination of a civil suit on the day before, was charged with having converted to hia own use a hansom cab, horse, and harness, property belonging to Thomas Lester [and others, of which prisoner was in charge. On the application of the police, he was remanded till Tuesday next.
