MAIL NOTICES
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary altera* tions) as under :• THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1. For Otago, per Wanaka, at 11.30 a.m.; lata fee letters, 11.40 a.m. ; guard's van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Ec-toma-hana (to connect with A Ibion at Auckland), at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. Notice. —On and after Ist September the mail service between Christ-church and Papanni will be twice daily, carried by tram cars. Mails will close at Christchnrch at 8 a.m. and 3.30 p.m., and close at Papanui at 11 45 a.m. and 7 p.m. Notice. —The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will close en Saturday, September 10th, and will be due in London on October 25th.
