MAIL NOTICES
Mails dose at the Chief rest Office for the 'ollowisg places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31. For the United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), Point de Golle, India, China, Japan, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Mediterranean ports, Australian Colonies, &c., per express train to connect with s.s. Arawata, as follow-:—Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m.; books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30th; money orders, at 4 p.m. en Tuesday, August SOih; late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Por t Office van attached to the express train on August 31st. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1. For Otago, per Wanaka, at 11.30 a.m.; lati fee letters, 11.40 a.m. ; guard’s van, 12.10 p m. train. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Eotomahana (to connect with: Albion at Auckland), at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. Notice —On and after Ist September the mail service between Christchurch and Papanui will bo twice daily, carried by tram cars. Mails will close at Christchurch at 8 a.m. and 3.30 p m , and close at Papanui at 11 45 a.m. and 7 p.m. Notice.—The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will close on -Saturday, September 10th, and will bo due in London oa October 25th.
