MAIL NOTICES
Mails close at the Chief Tost Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : TUESDAY. AUGUST 30. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Arawata, at 1.45 p.m.; lats fee letters, at 2 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p m. train. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m. j guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31. For the United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), Point de Gslle, India, China, Japan, the East, A den, Mauritius, Mediterranean ports, Australian Colonies, &0., per express train to connect with s.s. Arawata, as follows Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. ; books and newspapers, at 0 a.m. ; registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30fch; money orders, at 4 p.m. en Tuesday, August 30th ; late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Poit Office van attached to the express train on August 31st. Notice —On and after Ist September the mail service between Christchurch and Papauui will ba twice daily, carried by tram cars. Mails will close at Christchurch at 8 a.m. and 3 30 p.m., and close at Papauui at 11 45 a.m. and 7 p.m. Notice.—The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will close en Saturday, September 10th, and will bo due in London on October 25th.
