[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION,] NEW PLYMOUTH August 29. Inquest At the inquest held on the body of McLean, who was killed or. board the Hawea on Satur. day, a verdict of “Accidental Death” was returned. McLean joined tho Hawea on June 18th at Dunedin as able seaman. He is a native of Scotland and aged twenty-four years. WELLINGTON, August 29. The Drink AgainA man named Robert Bolt, a Wairarapa laborer, who had been on the spree for some days, attempted suicide yesterday by striking himself several times on the head with a sharp-edged axe. He is severely, but not seriously, wounded. The same man, under tho influence of drink, attempted to cut his throat in Nelson some two and a half years ago. DDNEDIN, August 29, Sporting. A private telegram states that Monmouth won the Hawkesbury Stakes; Marmora, 2; Gotn, 3. Spinningdalo was scratched, having been injured while training.
