Two fresh cases of smallpox have been reported to the Health Board to-day. The sufferers are a girl named Wales, residing at Woollahra, and James O’Neill, of Abercrombie street.
BRISBANE, August 27. Libel.
In the action for libel brought by Mr Perkins, Minister for Lands, against the “ Evangelical Standard,” in which damages were laid at £2OOO, a verdict has been returned for plaintiff, with £3 damages and costs. Released from Quarantine.
A number of persons were released from the quarantine station last night. They are, however, reticent as to the treatment they have received, ponding legal advice. Enough has, however, transpired to show that there has been gross neglect and mismanagement at the station. It is stated that the shoes and clothes of those in quarantine wore destroyed and never replaced, facts of which have come to light and has created a deep sensation and feeling of indignation.

Wheat remains firm, at 5s 3d to 5s Gd. Town flour is quoted at £l2 5s to £l2 10s; and country brands at £ll 10s to £ll 15s.
