[Per s.s. Rotorua, at the Bluff.] MELBOURNE, August 17. Messrs Burrowos and Madden, tho new Ministers, are confidently expected to be re-elected without opposition, both being popular with their constituents. The funeral of Justice Stephen, yesterday, was numerously attended by the legal profession, and the service was read by Dr. Bromby, the Revs. Low and Gregory assisting.

A conference of the representatives of the various associations interested in shipping has been held for the purpose of deciding upon the principles of a Bill for the establishment of a Marine Board in Victoria. Tho Conference resolved to wait upon the Commissioner of Customs and urge the introduction of a Bill.

At a meeting at the Scotch Church on tho 15th, tho Rev. Charles Strong announced his intention of abiding by his determination to resign his charge. A resolution was unanimously passed, regretting the same, and instructing the Board of Management to endeavor to secure a successor with views similar to those of Mr Strong. A grand Liberal demonstration is on the tapis for September 12th, when a Conference of Liberal delegates will bo hold. Mr Berry has promised to make a speech worthy of the occasion.

A prospectus has been issued of an Australian Lloyd's Marine Fire Insmance Company, with a capital of a quarter of a million in £5 shares, to take over and extend tho present business of tho Australian Lloyd’s Underwriters.

The latest advices from Willcannia warns intending diggers from coming, the want of water being severely felt, and many arc leaving for Granite rush, Milpariuka.
