THE COMING ELECTIONS.
To the Editor of the Globe. Sir, —I understand that there are a large number of persona registering their claims in Canterbury to vote for the members of the House of Representatives. I am glad, after the remarks that were given and the forms supplied gratis with your paper some time since, that such is the case; still as there are a great number for some reason, chiefly not knowing the character of the franchise, the pointing out of that seems a necessity, I should like, with your permission, to point out that every male of the age of twenty-one Jyears. and who has had a residence for six months previously, can have his name inserted on the roll wherein he resides. As the Bid before the House has passed its second reading, and will shot.ly become law, it is desirable that all persons who are eligible should register at once, because as soon as it passes the third reading only those claims who are registered before that, will bo able to use their privi'ege of v.iting at the coming elections, and there will b great disappointment at the neglect In not doi g so when at the poll booth they are not able, Hoping you will kindly insert tlrs in your taper. Yours, &c , aN ELECTOR. Christchurch, August 18th.
