Dr. Russell, called by the police, proceeded to give certain particulars as to some assaults by prisoner. He said that prisoner's wife had told him she had been suffering for six weeks from injuries inflicted by prisoner, rnd witness himself had been assaulted when he went to attend the wife. After some questions and discussion by the Bench, the President said they thought they cou'd not deal with matters which did not appear on the oharge sheet. Prisoner was fined 10s.—For first offences, one man was dismissed with a oaution, another was fined ss, and a man oharged with being drunk, who was absent, but for whom Mr Button appeared, was ordered to come up personally on Tuesday.—John Lane, who had been remanded for medical treatment, was now discharged with a caution. Labcbnt.—Maurice Harper, brought up on remand for stealing a suit of clothes, &c, at Yaldhurst, on August 10th, was, after some further evidence, discharged, the Benoh being of opinion that the case had not been made out. Obtaining Goods Vr&ovuixkzly. — Barbara Valentine, on this charge, was remanded till Friday next, bail being allowed in her husband's surety of £2O. Miscellaneous.—A oase against Henry Hedge and Thomas Lester, oharged with careless driving on Jr'y 30th, by which a lamp-post in Manchester street was knocked down and broken, was adjourned for a fortnight, on account of the absence of a materiel witness.—Francis Whiteman, for driving a oab without being license 1, was fined 10s and costs.—William Hawkins wes fined 20s and Henry Knight 10s, for allowing horses to wander at large.—A. S. Baker, for getting on a train whilst it was in motion, was fined 10s. —A case against Bobert Day for assaulting Daniel Burns was further adjourned till August 22nd. —Wm. Olougher, for assaulting Nicnolas Stanley, was fined 20s and costs.
