Arrived, Wednesday evening, Union Company’s steamship Riugarooms, from the Bluff, Dixon’s GasAt a meeting of tho Royal Society last night, Mr. Cosmo Newberry read a paper on tho subject of Dixon’s gas. Tho speaker ridiculed tho patentee’s specifications, and was confirmed in his opinion by others who addressed the meeting. Finally, a motion was carried, unanimously declaring that kerosene is tho sole illuminating ingredient in Dixon’s gas. SYDNEY, August 12. The Milbmn Creek Copper Company Vote Mr E. A. Baker, Minister of M'nes, has resigned his portfolio, in consequence of the recent debate in the Legislative Assembly regarding the expenditure of the vote to the Milburn Creek Copper Company. Mr Julian Salamons has been appointed sole Royal Commissioner to inquire into the charges which have been made in this affair.
