Yictobia Oaks, —The yelks of 12 eggs, leaving out the whites of six ; lib of loaf sugar beat fine (if you cannot procure loaf sugar use the whitest moist) ; the juice of one lemon, and the peels of two cut very flee ; whisk thosj ingredients together for three quarters of an hour, then add 12oz of flour. This cake must be put in the oven immediately, and bake one hour. To Keep Fiofe Sweet. —Scald out the flour bin every time it becomes empty, and let it dry in the sun. This prevents mitts from breeding in it. Eabthenwabb and Glass to Pbbsbkvb fbom Obaohinq—Put new earthenware into cold water, to beat and boil gradually ; then let it grow cold again. While the water is boiling throw into it a handful of bran and place a little hay on the top of the water. This not only preserves the glazing, so that it will not be affected by salt or acid, but toughens it. To Clean Sponges—Wash them in very dilute tartaric acid, rinsing them afterwards in water. It will make them very soft and white. Be careful to dilute the acid. To Clean the Ovens of Kitchen Ranges. —Put a handful of straw into the oven and set fire to it, shut up the ovea till
it is burnt out. This will cleanse all stains by enabling you to scrape away easily with an old knife all the droppings and grease.
