Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : ~ SATURDAY, AUGUST 6. For Northern Ports, per Wanaka. at 7.30 p.m The late letter _ box, guard’s van, must not be used for this mail. TUESDAY, AUGUST 9. For Otago, Australian Colonies, Capo of ■Good Dope, and United Kingdom, and Continent of Europe, via Brindisi (specially addressed correspondence only), per Kotomahana. at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, at 2p m ; guards’ van, 2.40 p.m. train. The Kotomahamt ebould connect with the Orient steamer, leaving Melbourne for Europe on the 22nd, and with the Catania, leaving Melbourne for Cape ol Good Hopa on 20th inst. Notice.—The next mail for the United Kingdom, &0., via San Francisco, will close on Saturday, August 13th. This mail will be duo in London on September 27th. Note. —From Ist August the Post-Office at Coalgate will be open for the issue and payment of money orders. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
