[FEB FEESB ASSOCIATION.] GUBBOENB, August 5. Prospecting for Minerals. A company of fifty £2 shares has been formed for exploring for minerals, and Mr Allen will go out prospecting at once. The Natives have agreed to aU prospecting being carried out on their lands under certain conditions. DUNEDIN, August 5. New Graving Dock. A conference of the Chamber of Commerce, the Harbor Board, the City Council, and the Port Chalmers Council affirmed the desirability of erecting a new graving dock, 500 ft. long, the cost not exceeding £IOO,OOO. The conference also passed a resolution that a Bill should be introduced in Parliament for vesting the existing dock and port harbor reserves in a trust, with the object of facilitating the construction of the proposed dock. The chairmen of the Harbor Board, Chamber of Commerce, and the Mayors of Dunedin and Port Chalmers were appointed a deputation to proceed to Wellington on Monday, to cooperate with Mr Macandrew on the matter. INVERCARGILL, August 5. Gxm Accident.
A young man named Scott, aged twentytwo, employed on the Invercargill and Elverton railway, while out shooting a few days ago, hod bis thumb blown off, the contents of the charge and part of the thumb bone lodging in his shoulder. He lingered till yesterday, when he died, mortification having set in.
