MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office fcr the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under THURSDAY, JULY 28. For Australian Colonies and United Kingdom and Continent of Europe (specially addressed correspondence only), per express train to connect with s.s. Albion, as follows: Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. ; books and newspapers, at 6 a.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m. oa Wednesday, July 27th; money orders, at 4 p.m. en Wednesday, July 27th; late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post Office van attached to the express train on Thursday, July 28th. For Akaroa and Dunedin, per at 9.40 a.m. ; late fee letters, at 9.50 a m.; guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Botomahana, at 1.40 p.m.; late fee letters, at 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Kaikoura, per Jane Douglas, at 3.20 p.m.: late fee letters, at 3.30 p.m. ; guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. Note.—From Ist August the Post-Office at Coalgate will be open for the issue and payment of money orders. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
